US AID: Famine War Drought Relief
After seeing the crisis of hunger and other various problems in Africa, the United States decided to take action. They created several programs including Feed the Future and 1,000 Days, which are both tailored to benefit the growing bodies of children from childhood and beyond, and provide a healthy life for their growing generation. US AID was established after World War II in 1961, and has been extending a helping hand (using less than .5% of the federal budget) ever since. They aim to prevent famines from happening in the future, stop the rise of food prices, and prevent the failure of crops.
They have over 68 projects in Somalia alone, and are stalked with highly nourishing foods to help the most desperate victims of malnutrition. They plan to revamp former habits of farming and agriculture to hopefully create a more effective system that continues to be effective if the event of a drought occurs. Read more about it here.
